Reverend David "If you or I are having a single thought of violence or hatred against anyone in the world at this moment, we are contributing to the wounding of the world."  – Deepak Chopra

This is a time of shock and mourning in our country and around the world. It is important that we provide solace for those who are suffering, peace for those afraid and upset, and hugs for those who need to be held. It is my hope that we will respond from the highest spiritual intent. We have been dedicating ourselves to holding the highest vision of our leaders responding from great wisdom.
There is a deep wound in the heart of humanity that has caused generations to cling to ancestral patterns of fear and hatred. For thousands of years we have attacked each other in the name of God. Jimmy Carter said, "The greatest threat of peace is fundamentalism in all its forms." Extremist thinking has caused this problem.
It is important that we don't see this as a religious war. Rather, it is the out picturing of radical thinking. It is imperative that we stand up to the "bullies" of this world and says NO. As all the countries of this world do this, we shall succeed. Standing up to this unacceptable behavior is what TOUGH LOVE is all about.
As Colin Power said, "This is not an attack on America as much as it is an attack on civilization." When we see this as a rift in the collective soul, we have the opportunity to do a deeper healing. It is not about getting rid of the symptoms of this dis-ease in the body of humanity, but more importantly rooting out the cause imbedded in the soul of humanity. Deep held resentments have festered and erupted in the psyche of many, and a deep healing is required. We cannot heal this wound through hate and revenge or more acts of senseless violence.
As long as we see the world in a "them and us" mind set, we can point the finger and blame "them" for our suffering. Is there a "them"? It is almost like the right arm hating the left arm. This is our opportunity to come together as a global community and say "no" to the hate, say "no" to the violence, say "no" to the killing in the world.
A child came to see me this week all filled with fear about the possibility of going to war. His classmates told him that the world would come to an end and that the Bible prophesied it. He was looking to me for answer. All I could tell him is that he had a choice. He could choose love or he could accept the fear and hate that were being given to him.
I shared with the child a Native American story. An elder in the tribe spoke to the youth saying, a black dog and a white dog are fighting each other. One represented darkness and evil and the other light and peace. He asked, "Which one will win?" He then replied "The one you feed." Let us feed the dog of peace and light and heal this wound with love. Together we can do it.
